  • The Most Comfortable Work Outfit Ever

fall fashion style blog in seattle

Outfit Details: Pants: GAP (on sale!) | Linen tee: J.Crew | Blazer: Target, old (similar) | Necklace: Madewell | Chelsea Boots: ASOS

Here on the good ol’ West Coast – the corporate world is very business-casual. In fact, here in Seattle, we’ve gone beyond biz-caz to tech-casual, which basically means as long as your wearing pants and a clean(ish) shirt, you’re good. Sometimes though, it’s nice to put on a blazer and some black pants. It feels professional. And comfortable – especially when my pants feel like PJs, my t-shirt is linen and my blazer is soft and relaxed.

I present to you: the most comfortable work outfit ever, complete with slouchy tee, track pants, flat chelsea boots and a Starbucks Red Cup. Now get out there, throw on some PJs and make shit happen.

  • Clogs Clogs Clogs

    seattle fashion blogger

Outfit Details: Chambray Button Down, GAP | Chunky Knit Sweater, H&M (similar here) | Patched Boyfriend Jeans, GAP (also love these) | Buffalo Leather Clutch, Ampersand As Apostrophe (awesome local Seattle shop) | Clogs, Urban Outfitters

CLOGS. I finally got a pair. I’ve been eyeing the grandmas-favorite for a few months now – but couldn’t bring myself to shell out over $200 for a pair – knowing I wouldn’t wear them often enough to make the price worth it. So when a friend forwarded me the link to a pair from Urban Outfitters – that were real leather and wood – and UNDER $40 – I freaked. Then I immediately bought them. Now I’m breaking them in you guys, like Cher.

Do you have a pair of clogs? Isn’t it surprising how comfortable they are? Beyond the ouchies of breaking the leather in – they are incredibly comfy, though a bit clunky. I really do tromp around my office in them – but I know all the darting eyes are just basic bitches jealous because they didn’t know clogs were on trend, and now they have to spend their PSL budget for the week on a new pair.

Also – a note about that chambray shirt you wore and wore this summer. It gets to stay around for fall! It’s the perfect under-sweater companion – I even had a blog post last year doing the same thing with a different chambray shirt.

That’s all for me, today. I hope you’ve been enjoying all my ranting over on Twitter lately – it’s getting real over there.

  • My Boyfriends

    curvy boyfriend jean style blog

Outfit Details: Boyfriend Jeans (bought 1 size too big for extra slouch) via GAP (also obsessed with this pair)| Striped linen tank via GAP | Necklace via J.Crew | Flat leather sandals via GAP (out of stock but loving these) | Lip & cheek color via YSL

Boyfriend Jeans. They are SO HOT right now. Have you shied away from sportin’ a pair due to fear of looking like Martha Stewart on a Saturday? I get it. I had that same fear, but I was able to overcome it – by figuring out how to style them in the “cool girl” way instead of the “hipster or mom?” way.

Fear the Oprah pant no more. This trend is certified cool-girl and everyone can rock it. Here are my styling tips for how to wear those mom boyfriend jeans:

    • Slouchy Fit: Make sure your boyfriend jeans have a relaxed, slouchy fit. However – ensure that you do NOT have a slouchy camel toe. No CTs ladies.
    • Sloppy Roll: Roll up your boyfriend jeans like you don’t even care. Sloppy rolls. That easy, it’s-whatever roll-up.
    • No Sacks Please: Make sure your shirt isn’t TOO oversized. Relaxed fit is always good – but if you have a giant, billowing top with slouchy jeans, you will just look like a sack. Unless you’re Cara Delevingne. But you’re not. So find a relaxed but fitted top.
    • Tuck ‘er In: Tuck your top in. A little or a lot, you decide.
    • Girl Up: Pair with something girly. This could be a bright lipstick, a fun necklace, etc. You have to balance out the BF-vibe with some BFF-vibes.
    • Belt Optional: A belt can help your slouchy jeans stay in place (like mine, which are 1-2 sizes too big for my waist), and also can add an additional cool-girl effect.

There you have it. Go find some awesome, ripped, ragged boyfriend jeans and pony up to this trend.

  • Play Ball

styling a womans baseball cap hat blog

Outfit Details: Chambray Baseball Cap via J.Crew (also love this Biltmore Baseball Hat via Madewell) | Oui Mon Cheri Linen Tee via J.Crew | Striped Linen Tank via Madewell | Purse: H&M | Leggings via GAP | Leather two-strap sandals via Zara

I’ve been eyeing this J.Crew chambray baseball cap for a while. But after months of flipping through Madewell catalogues and seeing countless pins of girls looking chic-as-ever in their it’s whatever hats, it was too much to take – so I took the plunge and joined the team.

Being a member of team cool-girl is pretty sweet. I get to show up wearing leggings, t-shirts and baseball caps and still get to call myself stylish. I’ve even gone up a level in my quest for it’s whatever style – I’m now on the hunt for the perfect pair of wear-out-pajama pants. Cause pajama pants are legit cool-girl shit now. If that’s not incentive enough to hop on this relaxed-trend bandwagon, I don’t know what is.

So go buy up all the linen tees, all the sweat pants, all the birks, all the slouchy, relaxed-fit, soft-texture stuff you can get. Before it’s too late and pants suits make their grand comeback. Hurry – but don’t appear too frantic. That’s so not normcore.
