  • My Boyfriends

    curvy boyfriend jean style blog

Outfit Details: Boyfriend Jeans (bought 1 size too big for extra slouch) via GAP (also obsessed with this pair)| Striped linen tank via GAP | Necklace via J.Crew | Flat leather sandals via GAP (out of stock but loving these) | Lip & cheek color via YSL

Boyfriend Jeans. They are SO HOT right now. Have you shied away from sportin’ a pair due to fear of looking like Martha Stewart on a Saturday? I get it. I had that same fear, but I was able to overcome it – by figuring out how to style them in the “cool girl” way instead of the “hipster or mom?” way.

Fear the Oprah pant no more. This trend is certified cool-girl and everyone can rock it. Here are my styling tips for how to wear those mom boyfriend jeans:

    • Slouchy Fit: Make sure your boyfriend jeans have a relaxed, slouchy fit. However – ensure that you do NOT have a slouchy camel toe. No CTs ladies.
    • Sloppy Roll: Roll up your boyfriend jeans like you don’t even care. Sloppy rolls. That easy, it’s-whatever roll-up.
    • No Sacks Please: Make sure your shirt isn’t TOO oversized. Relaxed fit is always good – but if you have a giant, billowing top with slouchy jeans, you will just look like a sack. Unless you’re Cara Delevingne. But you’re not. So find a relaxed but fitted top.
    • Tuck ‘er In: Tuck your top in. A little or a lot, you decide.
    • Girl Up: Pair with something girly. This could be a bright lipstick, a fun necklace, etc. You have to balance out the BF-vibe with some BFF-vibes.
    • Belt Optional: A belt can help your slouchy jeans stay in place (like mine, which are 1-2 sizes too big for my waist), and also can add an additional cool-girl effect.

There you have it. Go find some awesome, ripped, ragged boyfriend jeans and pony up to this trend.

Outfit Details: Chambray Baseball Cap via J.Crew (also love this Biltmore Baseball Hat via Madewell) | Oui Mon Cheri Linen Tee via J.Crew | Striped Linen Tank via Madewell | Purse: H&M | Leggings via GAP | Leather two-strap sandals via Zara

I’ve been eyeing this J.Crew chambray baseball cap for a while. But after months of flipping through Madewell catalogues and seeing countless pins of girls looking chic-as-ever in their it’s whatever hats, it was too much to take – so I took the plunge and joined the team.

Being a member of team cool-girl is pretty sweet. I get to show up wearing leggings, t-shirts and baseball caps and still get to call myself stylish. I’ve even gone up a level in my quest for it’s whatever style – I’m now on the hunt for the perfect pair of wear-out-pajama pants. Cause pajama pants are legit cool-girl shit now. If that’s not incentive enough to hop on this relaxed-trend bandwagon, I don’t know what is.

So go buy up all the linen tees, all the sweat pants, all the birks, all the slouchy, relaxed-fit, soft-texture stuff you can get. Before it’s too late and pants suits make their grand comeback. Hurry – but don’t appear too frantic. That’s so not normcore.

  • Overcast

overcast seattle fashion blogger outfit post fall style 2013

Leather Jacket: Nordstrom (similar) | Top: H&M | Jewerly: Vintage & Marrin Costello c/o | Purse: Vintage Valentino (similar) | Socks: J.Crew | Boots: ASOS

Though Starbucks has already busted out their 10-year PSL anniversary cups, it’s not technically fall yet. However it does seem like summer is on her way out…and it’s time for this Seattle fashion blogger to get used to clouds and rain.

Funny thing is, I actually love overcast Seattle. The sky is filled with more than 50 shades of gray, everyone has their giant comfy scarfs and soft chunky knits on, and boot season is in full-swing. Though this summer was absolutely amazing – and one of my personal best – I’m ready to welcome fall with both sweater-sleeved arms.

I’m ready for hot chocolate in giant mugs. Camping and huddling around bon fires. The sound of the rain hitting my window. Boot shopping via other people’s feet on the downtown sidewalk. Making big pots of piping hot soup. And most of all…amazingly comfy oversized sweaters.

I’m ready! I even added some oversized, chunky sweaters to my Pinterest board of things I want. Hope you’re preparing you wardrobe (and mental outlook) for fall. I have a feeling it’s going to be a good one.

  • Pumpkin Patching

seattle fashion blogger goes pumpkin patch hunting fall 2012 1

As you know…it’s October and fall is truly starting to show it’s orange and red colors here in the Pacific Northwest. And that means only one thing in October…PUMPKIN PATCH TIME! I headed out to a lovely pumpkin patch in the greater-Seattle area and ended up finding the perfect little pumpkin to hang out near my doorstep until I decide to gut the thing for all it’s seeds…and bake them into deliciousness.

Oh, what’s that? You want to know what I’m wearing? Sure, sure. I’ll tell you. My little coat is from GAP (it’s old, but I love this one), striped shirt is from H&M (similar here), scarf is from Forever21 (old, similar here), boots I’ve had forever (but these and these are amazing).

And if you can’t tell, I’m really into statement-socks sticking out of booties for this season. In fact I bought the most adorable pair of hen-socks from J.Crew this past weekend that I plan to flaunt near my ankles very soon!
